The Problem: Some Spaces Are Too Dangerous for Human Operators

Interior demolition in high-rises, basements, and structurally compromised buildings exposes workers to falling debris, silica dust, and confined-space hazards. Standard excavators cannot fit through doorways. Manual labor with jackhammers is slow, dangerous, and prohibited on many DM sites. Robotic demolition solves this. Remote-controlled machines enter spaces as narrow as 800 millimeters, operate for 24-hour shifts without fatigue, and produce zero operator exposure to collapse zones. In Dubai, robotic demolition is increasingly mandatory for interior strip-outs above the 10th floor and for any work in basements with limited egress.

Our Robotic Demolition Process

Al Mrooj deploys Brokk and Husqvarna robotic demolition machines for precision interior work.

Phase 1: Site Survey & Access Planning. We measure doorways, elevator shafts, and stairwells to confirm machine access. If standard units do not fit, we use modular Brokk machines that break down into components and reassemble inside the work area.
Phase 2: Structural Assessment. A structural engineer marks load-bearing elements that must remain intact. The robotic operator receives a 3D site plan showing no-go zones.
Phase 3: Robotic Execution. The machine enters the site and removes non-structural elements — partitions, ceilings, MEP fixtures — using hydraulic breakers, concrete crushers, or metal shears. The operator controls the machine from a safe location outside the collapse zone via remote control with real-time camera feedback.
Phase 4: Waste Removal & Handover. Segregated waste is removed via hoist or conveyor. The site is cleaned and handed over for the next trade.

Equipment & Capability

Our robotic fleet includes Brokk 90, Brokk 160, and Brokk 280 machines with breaker, crusher, and shear attachments. The Brokk 280 delivers 38 kW of hydraulic power — equivalent to a 5-ton excavator — in a machine that fits through a standard doorway. We also deploy Husqvarna DXR remote-controlled demolition robots for specialized cutting and drilling tasks.

Compliance & Safety

Robotic demolition eliminates the primary hazard: the operator. All machines are electrically powered (zero exhaust emissions for indoor work) and equipped with emergency stop systems. Operators hold Brokk factory certifications and DM demolition licenses. Daily maintenance checks prevent hydraulic failure during operation.

Proof: Hotel Renovation in Downtown Dubai

In early 2026, Al Mrooj completed the interior strip-out of a 22-story hotel in Downtown Dubai. The project required removing 4,000 square meters of partition walls, bathroom pods, and raised flooring on floors 15 through 22 while the lower floors remained occupied. We used Brokk 160 machines deployed via construction hoist. The work was completed in 14 days with zero disruption to hotel operations and no safety incidents.
