The Problem: Demolition Waste Is a Liability, Not Trash

Dubai generates over 2.5 million tons of construction and demolition waste annually. Dumping it in landfill is no longer the default — it is increasingly restricted. Dubai Municipality requires waste management plans for all demolition permits, and developers face penalties for unsegregated disposal. Beyond regulation, landfill tipping fees in Dubai have risen 40% in three years. Contractors who treat demolition waste as a single mixed load are throwing away money. Concrete can be crushed for aggregate. Steel rebar has scrap value. Timber can be chipped. Segregated waste management reduces disposal costs, accelerates project timelines, and satisfies DM sustainability requirements. A contractor without a waste management plan is a contractor with a problem.

Our C&D Waste Management Process

Al Mrooj provides end-to-end demolition waste management from site segregation to final disposal.

Phase 1: Waste Audit & Planning. Before demolition begins, we audit the structure and produce a waste management plan identifying recyclable streams, estimated volumes, and disposal routes.
Phase 2: On-Site Segregation. Demolition waste is sorted at source into concrete, steel, timber, mixed C&D, and hazardous materials. This prevents contamination that would otherwise render recyclables unusable.
Phase 3: Processing & Recycling. Concrete is crushed on-site using mobile jaw crushers to produce GSB material for backfill and road base. Steel is cut and transported to Jebel Ali smelters. Timber is chipped for biomass or landfill cover.
Phase 4: Tracking & Reporting. Every waste load is tracked with weighbridge tickets and disposal certificates. We provide clients with a final waste diversion report for DM compliance and LEED documentation.

Our waste management services support all demolition types, including villa demolition and building demolition.

Equipment & Capability

Our waste management fleet includes mobile jaw crushers with 50-ton-per-hour throughput, magnetic separators for steel recovery, wheel loaders with grapple buckets, and 20-cubic-meter waste haul trucks. We maintain disposal contracts with DM-registered recycling facilities and hazardous waste handlers across the UAE.

Compliance & Safety

All waste handling complies with Dubai Municipality C&D waste regulations, UAE federal environmental standards, and DM permit conditions. Hazardous materials — asbestos, PCBs, contaminated soil — are transported under manifest and disposed of at licensed facilities only. We provide full audit trails for every kilogram of waste.

Proof: Villa Compound in Jumeirah

In 2025, Al Mrooj demolished a 4,200 square meter villa compound in Jumeirah 3. The waste management plan identified 1,800 tons of concrete, 45 tons of steel rebar, and 12 tons of timber. We crushed the concrete on-site for backfill, sent the steel to a Jebel Ali smelter, and chipped the timber for landfill cover. The project achieved 87% waste diversion from landfill — exceeding the DM target of 75% — and saved the client AED 34,000 in disposal fees.
