Asbestos Removal Dubai | Licensed Asbestos Abatement | Al Mrooj
The Problem: Asbestos Is Still Everywhere in Dubai
Despite federal bans on new asbestos use, thousands of buildings constructed before 2005 in Dubai still contain asbestos insulation, cement boards, pipe lagging, and roofing sheets. When these materials are disturbed during demolition or renovation, they release microscopic fibers that cause mesothelioma, asbestosis, and lung cancer. UAE federal law and Dubai Municipality regulations mandate that asbestos be identified, contained, and disposed of by licensed contractors before any structural work begins. Failure to comply results in project shutdown, fines up to AED 100,000, and criminal liability if workers or residents are exposed. General demolition contractors without asbestos licenses often skip the survey or handle the material informally — creating invisible, long-term health hazards.

Proof: Villa Compound in Umm Suqeim
In 2025, Al Mrooj conducted asbestos abatement on a 1970s villa compound in Umm Suqeim prior to demolition. The survey identified asbestos cement roofing sheets, pipe lagging in the utility room, and floor tiles with asbestos backing. We removed 2.4 tons of asbestos-containing material over 5 working days under full containment. Air clearance testing passed on the first attempt. The subsequent villa demolition proceeded without regulatory delay.
